Aluminium is naturally difficult to colour, because it does not absorb colourants like other materials. That is why we use a special process called anodising. In this process, aluminium is immersed in a special bath, where a chemical reaction takes place that gives the aluminium its unique Midnight Blue hue.
An Apple secret! The unique chemical process and the precise choice of materials make it extremely difficult to accurately reproduce colored aluminum. Together with our manufacturer we tested several samples to arrive at the perfect Midnight Blue color.
